Stevens RN RM I use BioStim in the treatment of incontinence because it works. If one's bladder problems are urgency or frequency related, and the pelvic floor is very weak, BioStim is the treatment of choice. The use of BioStim for pelvic floor strengthening, or more exactly 'Neuro Muscular Stimulation', is based on successes in my own clinical practice and on results of overseas studies . For example, recent clinical studies in America showed a 73% cure and improvement rate using this technique (The Australian Continence Journal, 1996). Neuro Muscular Stimulation (NMS) has a settling effect on the nerves responsible for irritable bladders - which is very important, because it is an irritable bladder which causes urgent and frequent trips to the toilet. Additionally, NMS strengthens the internal muscles of the bladder and related structures, giving better control. Similarly, the vaginal walls are strengthened, so decreasing prolapses and increasing sexual satisfaction. BioStim can get some amazing results:
