ELECTRICAL MUSCLE EXERCISE |
|
Description: The abdominal muscles (rectus abdominis) are two long, flat parallel muscles separated by a band of connective tissue called the linea alba. They run vertically on each side of the anterior wall of the abdomen. The rectus abdominis is a key postural muscle, responsible for flexing the lumbar spine, as when doing a 'sit-up'. The rectus abdominis can play a role in respiration in the event of shortness of breath. Placement of Applicators: Position the top electrode just below the lower edge of the ribs. The second electrode is placed above the line of the pubic hair. The relative heights of the two electrodes should be varied to obtain the strongest contraction. Do not place electrodes above the line of the ribs or lower than the line of pubic hair. Please note: When the abdominals are contracted strongly, depth of breathing may be affected to a certain degree - this is normal. Increase the intensity of stimulation slowly to a point where the level of muscle contraction is comfortable. List of precautions. |
